Wall Mounted Indoor Units

Eco-comfort technology makes these systems smarter in how they use energy and minimizes their impact on the environment. Plus there are many advanced features like the i-see™ Sensor, that automatically detects room temperature differences and adjusts for greater comfort. Mitsubishi Electric's advanced multi-stage filtration systems dramatically reduce allergens and help eliminate odors. And our indoor units operate with sound levels starting as low as 19dB(A). That sound is even quieter than a human whisper.

About Indoor HVAC Units

Also called air handling units, the indoor part of a ductless system is critical. This unit distributes conditioned air to the room or zone it serves. In most cases, these units have individual thermostat controls for point-of-use cooling and heating. Indoor units are designed to work with both single- and multi-zone systems, making them a very flexible option.

About Mitsubishi Electric Product Ratings

As you shop for a ductless air conditioning system, these are a few terms you’ll want to know to understand the equipment better:

  • SEER – The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio describes cooling efficiency of heat pumps and air conditioners. Ideally, you’ll want a SEER rating of 13 or higher.
  • HSPF – The Heating Seasonal Performance Factor addresses heating efficiency of heat pumps during the cold season. A rating of at least 6.8 is  must, but those in the 8-10 range deliver the best energy savings.
  • Units that use an inverter compression system enable the compressor to run at variable speeds, saving energy while stabilizing cooling.
  • Units that use a non-inverter compression system only have one compressor speed. This can lead to some loss in efficiency and unit life cycle.

Mitsubishi Electric Ductless Options

Indoor units designed to work with Mitsubishi Electric heaters and air conditioners are available in three main options. Keep in mind, the best unit for your needs will depend on your building requirements and budget. The main choices are:

  • Wall-Mounted Systems: These air handling units are mounted high on walls. They deliver exceptional cooling power while keeping components out of reach.
  • Floor-Mounted Systems: The units provide ground-level heating and cooling.
  • Horizontal Ductless Systems: This type of unit is concealed in slots cut for ductwork to provide an attractive, but ductless solution.

Which Ductless System Should I Choose?

Before selecting any air conditioning system, be sure to have professional load calculations performed. These numbers determine the exact size ductless air conditioning systems needed for your home. Remember, it’s an absolute must to have a professional HVAC contractor install your Mitsubishi Electric ductless air conditioner or heat pump to ensure proper installation and high quality performance going forward.
